That's a good point if you want higher grade you may have no choice but to go to the same breeder but if and when you have pups would you also sell pairs to the same person ?

I can honestly say my two big female p14 came from wild caught adults not because I bred them myself but because of the amount of spots they have
captive bred p14 have come along way in the last few years
The way they look now with the amount of spots they have is much more spotty
was this created by inter breeding who knows

I wouldn't stop someone buying a brother sister pair from me in the future and I also wouldn't only sell in pairs, females have there market price and so do males at no point should a person be made to buy a male just so the vendor feels he or she is getting a better price for there male pup.
When selling a brother sister pair tho I do think the seller should advise on the inline breeding and leave it down the the person buying the rays to choose if they buy or not.

Totally mate, being transparent and with your advice to a potential buyer is the best thing. Then, if they do buy a sibling pair off you, you'll have a clear conscience because you advised them on the merits/disadvantages of potentially continuing the single branch of a family tree.
Look at Clacton, all that inbreeding down there never hurt anyone lol!!!!

The gene pool is a lot smaller than we think in the UK

I maybe wrong but rays like pearl and p14 are the most affected by the limited gene pool in the UK
Pearl and p14 was the main two rays to always have been on the banned list since it was put in place that can't help matters

With regard to massive amounts of wc exports from South America and Central America in general to Europe and beyond, how does it work with exports from North America? As in their must be plenty more pearls/p14 than the UK and Europe purely on the size of the US and its proximity to the original source.
What I'm asking is why dont US breeders sell CB, F1 and the like pearls to Europe, there's a market for them over here surely, especially as I know the US and Canada are after good stock from the likes of Aquaman. Such a small world we live in, can't be too tricky to inject some new blood across the pond in either direction.

Problem with that is you have to ship the fish along ways and it's always risky for anyone. And trusting people with money and all the other mess involved.

I don't think the UK ships anything to the U.S. just fish

It's easy for UK to move stuff in and out of Europe we don't need any paperwork to ship thing in or out

The paperwork to ship stuff to the U.S. Is to much hassle

And most of us in the UK are hobbyists not vendors
