Well they didnt take to the shrimp as expected so I ended up putting the feeders in and bam. Only bought 10 rosie reds b/c the lfs lady assured me they wouldnt eat on the first night. Guess I'm getting more tomorrow, my other azul was like this at first. I got him onto shrimp using dieselmack's method, gonna start that tomorrow.

Id keep at the feeders for a few days. In all reality since you knew you were getting wc fish and they would be skinny you should of already had some gut loaded feeders ready...not just 10...more like a 100+. The ones you buy from the lfs wouldnt be nearly as healthy as ones in good care at a dedicated fish keepers home. Good luck.

People need to realize that wild fish always come in skinny. they have to starve them for a few days before shipping out of south america, and when they arrive, they're always thin, and stressed. if you want a fat and round peacock bass, you'd have to buy a captive raised one or a generic tank bred variety.

one some of the rarer peacock bass varieties, they're very sensitive on arrival, and death toll is often high., once acclimated and fattened, would mean at least 2 weeks after arrival, by then, the price will go up since it has gone through dying, quarantine, fattening, feeding., etc.

I would say at the very least 10 rosies....but I would do twenty. If it were me Id have a 55g or another 20g+ for qt'ing feeders and gettin them nice and fat off of hikari pellets.

if your off feeders then keep 'em off just my opinion...or a healthier choice would be small live shinners if you have that availiable in your area...but since they are off live dude that is your best bet...you can now pack the shrimp with pelllets if you'd like so you know they are getting the proper minerals and vitamins...good luck with those awesome baby monsters!!! :headbang2
