Rio Cana Brava SP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi sir interesting fish i have to say. Boosten has been in cichla keeping for quite sometime now so ill take his advice over alot of newbies and young ones in the cichla game like us... By the way your piquitis, are they from cana brava as well? Am searching for pics of cana brava piquitis for quite sometime now, if yours are from cana brava, mind posting some pics? Thanks!

Nice looking kels bro. Its not all about the spangles man, your kels have some interesting colors!

Sent from my SGH-T999 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App
Thanks, I believe in time to come, their true colours would eventually show so I'm not worried at all. I do wish I knew what an adult Rio Docce looks like through, Jeff Rapps sold like 2 batches but nv seen an adult posted on the forum yet.
It's all about you and what you like really. All that matters is if you like the fish or not. :)
I do like my fish very much, in fact my LFS has been bugging me to sell the Rio Cana Brava back to him since I told him I suspect they are not Kels. Truth is we all want to keep it kel or not haha.

Noted bro, I take everyone's opinions and advise into consideration, esp the experience ppl. Being a rather lucky pbass fan, I have come to own and observe many of the pbass variants and species first hand. It's the details that separate the pbass that I'm most interested in. I would love for everyone to share why they think such and such is so. Thats the best part of learning.

The Azul I have is from Araguaia. I only went to pick up the SPs as I was aiming at a full gold tank at that time and an Azul was not on the list. There should be like 30pcs among the Singapore collectors. I haven't seen any surface on my local forums, but if they do I will be sure to link you to it.

Got this when it came in as a contaminant from a Rio Cana Brava Azul shipment a couple of mths back. My LFS who brough them in was telling me it was most likely a kel since Rio Cana Brava only has Kels and Azuls. Got it at abt when it was 1.5", now pushing 7". I dunno much abt the Rio Cana Brava river, but I suspect there ain't only Kels and Azuls there. Can't say I'm disappointed anyway, the blue on this guy is more amazing then my Azul. Anyone wanna take a shot at IDing?

An update on my Cana Brava SP. Turns out it is a Kel of some sort. Spangles on the anal fin although just a little.

Gorgeous cana brava NId!
The head shape and the spangles on the anal fin say it all.
DO you have any more pics you wanna share....?

The pics on the first page look a lot like the kels we were sold as Sao Fran.
