Rio Hondo Carpintis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update , They have settled in nicely and he even sent me one extra though upon inspection one has a shot gill plate so even steven. They are all ready coloring nicely and at times push and shoving even this small. They eat literally any thing dropped into the tank like Piranha. This should be a fun ride thanks to all again for the input.

Truly one of the most beautiful species in the Cichlid world. A mature Carpintis is second to none in appearance and aesthetics.

Not quite ready to scrap one of my current tanks, but a serious candidate for a species I'd like to do when the timing's right. :)

I know these fish are aggressive, but have you guys ever had them attack your filter equipment? I'm running canisters/HOB on my 180, and I've steered away from some of the more aggressive fish because I'm worried they will knock my filter return loose or bust a heater. I'm slowly whittling down my list of options for my new 180, but this fish remains on my short list.
