I know these fish are aggressive, but have you guys ever had them attack your filter equipment?

My male pretty much just directs his aggression towards his female mate.

There very aggressive toward other fish, especially other cichlids. I don't find mine being aggressive towards equipment or people. There not on the same level as Amphs and Parachromis sp. That's how I find mine. Others may have different experiences.

Update pic. Growing steadily, all what's lacking is nuchal hump. Hopefully he will develops one with age.

He's about 9inch May be slightly bigger. As for lighting I'm not sure of the brand, there's a shop white led and a blue led taken from a used tank bought.
