I got both rio mag and gorllus blue. I noticed that the stress bars on rio mag are thinner and have more while gorillus blue have wider bars and lesser. Also the snout on the rio mag is much more elongated than the gorillus blue. This is just base on mine.
Yes the blue umbee is hard to beat I know there are a few different location of the blues which have yielded some debate on which is nicer, but at least everyone has a choice and we have umbeeking to collect these other locations which makes it possible to experience outside the Rio mag
Oh yes!!! Some of mine are pushing 3" and if I could get some pics I would. I might have to pull a couple and out in own tank to get good pics. But so far from what I have seen compared to the umbees in hobby now.... It's just too bad I don't have more these magnumx are continuing to impress me!!! Umbeeking and freshwaterpredators have come together to create an awesome blue umbee!!!
I appreciate and respect all the different stains that have been brought to the hobby but I'm only really a fan of Rio Mags and Location X.
It's very impressive that the Rio Mag had a 3"+ size advantage and the Gorillus has already passed the rio mag in size!
I wonder if Gorillus have a faster growth rate because they experience more predation as juveniles in their part of Columbia or if it is because they grow to a much larger size than rio mags?!
More than 24"!!8)
Jason is the max size if Gorillus known yet? Is it more than 24"?
