I wanted to start a very specific catch location thread on these trimac because you dont see much information on them. See lots about the Rio Naranga , some on the Rio Sarabia, and very little on the Rio Niltepec and almost nothing on the Rio Los Perros.
These fish were ordered from Max's cichlids out of Florida. I request 6 males in the 3'-4" range. My goal is a solo male when its all said and done. While I know tank sizes for fish can and will be debated, in the end this is my fish and I feel comfortable raising a solo male in a 90 gallon. I am an avid water changer and the tank is filtered with two Aquaclear 110's. If I like more than one of these fish I do have a second 90 gallon available to keep a second fish.
Seems as if the only real seller of these Rio Niltepec trimac is Max's Cichlids. I was super impressed in my dealings with Max and his communication during the whole process from start to finish was outstanding.

Well after a few months of getting fish rehomed and prepped for this project I put in my order. Waking up at 5am I headed off to Southwest Cargo to pick up early on a Sunday morning.
Checked box as soon as I got it
Pulled out all six bags and checked fish
All were healthy and no D.O.A. Each fish was double bagged and individually bagged. This one caught my eye right away. nice 'Flowers' and teardrop under the eye.
Got them home and acclimated for temp first, then did a slow drip method to acclimate to water.
Of the fish, 3 were on the larger side and 3 were on the smaller. A nice mix of size.
