Rio tapajos biotope

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do realize that locality variations exist and I was gonna do my best to obtain the correct variations but if push comes to shove I don't have a problem picking up something similar to the actual thing. This is especially true for the Cory cats. I don't know where to start with those. In all honesty I gonna just keep my eye on Rapp's stock list the next couple of weeks and see what he gets in from the rio tapajos and go from there.
On another note I absolutely love the severums I got from him. I regret not buying more and going for a pair.

I'm pretty confident that I've ended up with a pair, that said I've not seen anything even resembling courting so no fry in the immediate future. I think that the difference in collection point will vary greatly depending on what you're looking at, just the pike in particular has a good bit of regional differences. I've noticed a surprisingly large number of cories being imported lately, but that said I don't have much interest in them so I couldn't tell you if any from the tapajos are floating around. I'm sure you can culminate something pretty easily, and with most of the stock you've shown interest in so far I think making new additions won't be much of an issue so you can go at the what's available pace. You might want to check aquabid and the like, I've seen some tapajos pikes from Snookn21 who is held in high regard here, and they look nice.

Luckily, almost all the Cr. regani sold now are the Tapajos race ... I haven't seen a 'classic' regani in quite some time now. They are found in a different area of the Tapajos than the Geo's if that matters to you. L. araguaiae would be the best choice if you went the dwarf pike route imo/ime out of the other dwarves you listed. Plus, they are beautiful:

I'd skip the cories though between the Geo's and any of the dwarf cichlids. I'd rather let the orangeheads (which is what I assume you are refering to) sift the sand in peace.

Well maybe I will get lucky and the two Heros efasciatus I have will pair up. Surprisingly the two Heros severus I have seem to be pairing up. Like the efasciatus, I only purchased two severus to begin with but happened to get extremely lucky.
Back to the biotope.. I think I can safely say the dicrossus maculatus and the apistogramma agassizi are out of the picture. I may just pull the trigger and order a couple of the laetacara that Jeff has in now. As for the Cory cats, I don't have a problem waiting to get those or passing them up entirely, especially if you believe they will cause a problem.

When I had my biotope set up, I had no issues with the Cory's and geos. I had 12 Cory's in the tank with the geos. The geos didn't bother the Cory's and vice versa. Cory's add a nice mix to the tank. Make the biotope look more complete IMO.
