Did you have it outside at all? they can get some pretty nasty things from eating grass and stuff off the ground before their immune system is built up, I lost a puppy a couple years ago that way, He ate some grass when the wife had him out for a pee and was gone in a week.

he was outside bt never around any grass. he was on the porch and it was gated off so they couldnt get off.

Could have been parvovirus. That can take puppies pretty quickly and pit bulls are especially susceptible.
