I would be guessing that its something with the food. Did you do a PH test. Maybe the water is very acidic???

Holy $#it Larry, wtf happened? I'm sorry, those were some really nice fish you lost. Man, that sucks.
Man, I wish that I could honestly say. I am thinking that the massivore was too much for them, I am not sure. I only put about 5 pellets in to see if they would take them and the oscars got the majority of them, while the others picked up the parts the O's spat out. I was bummed when I got the call and came home to see them. It sucks major, as the ones I lost were active. Now I'm looking to pick up some more. Now I just have to find somewhere that has some at a pretty decent size. I don't want to get them too small to where they will be a snack for the O's. I thought about getting rid of them, but the fiance will castrate me if I get rid of her Albino O, Tangelo

How long were you away from home? Could it have been a power outage or a heater malfunction?
It was just overnight. I did a light feeding, a few hours later a 25% w/c and everything was cool when I turned the lights off. I didn't even check the tank before I left for work.

Sorry to ear about the dead.
I think that what LARRY said is correct, but with a cicled filter those values sholudn´t occur. Has the electricity failed during your absence. Maybe there is some problem with your fliters
