Sorry to ear about the dead.
I think that what LARRY said is correct, but with a cicled filter those values sholudn´t occur. Has the electricity failed during your absence. Maybe there is some problem with your fliters

No not that I was aware of, my fiance had the day off and she didn't say anything about a power outage

Sorry your fish died :(
Anyone put anything in the tank?
Check copper levels...

PH too...

If it was your Massivore that was bad the O would be dead too...

Man, I wish that I could honestly say. I am thinking that the massivore was too much for them, I am not sure. I only put about 5 pellets in to see if they would take them and the oscars got the majority of them, while the others picked up the parts the O's spat out.

It was just overnight. I did a light feeding, a few hours later a 25% w/c and everything was cool when I turned the lights off. I didn't even check the tank before I left for work.

I don't think it was the Massivore. That's all my Datnoids will eat and they eat a butt load of pellets. My 9" male Festae will eat about 6-8 Massivore pellets per feeding. Did you remember to condition the water when you did your water change? I lost a few fish once when I stupidly forgot to add Prime. Sometimes things happen I suppose, but man I was so disappointed when I did that.

Sorry for your loss I hope you are able to figure out what the Hell happen again sorry for your loss:(

I did add Prime, that was the firs thing I did when I switched the python from drain to fill. I am just stuck on what could have caused this to happen. I've researched the feeding of massivore to festae and I've even read that you fed it to them while you had them. So I was only reaching as to it was possibly the feeding that could have caused this sudden change.

In another thread I have here, RED DEVIL mentioned that it was the massivore, that it was too much protein for them, but when I looked at the bags, the protein between massivore and cichild gold is 47% to 40%. (shrugs shoulders)

I am beating myself up trying to figure out what happened. There was nothing that I didn't do that I normally do during a w/c...:nilly:

they were some great looking fish, sorry for your loss

Thank you, I was really fond of the GT as he was a real character in the tank. Everytime we would stand in front of it, he/she was a little glass banger. It was comical to watch, and the festae were settling in really well, now I am on the hunt for some more as these were some fish that I have been looking for over a year, and just had them only for a month

I would suspect that O2 was the problem. From your pics I see no indications of parasites, fungus, or amonia burns - the gill plates look colorful not red as does the overall color of all the fish. Oscars are semi-unique, they have the ability to live in extreme O2 deficiant water. I've read articles claiming oscars can survive up to 6 hours in an anoxia enviorment. The obvisious suspect would be water temp - your heater.
However tap water is never 100% safe. Water main breaks locally can introduce contaments into your water, filtration failer at the source is also quite common - how many times have you heard of an area with boil your water warnings. More times than not the incidents go completely unreported to the public.

I'm turely sorry for your lose and am pretty confident it wasn't anything you could have prevented. I feed most all my SA/CA's massivore and have had no problems actually the opposite. Some of those fish are 4 Festae's and an Aequidens sp. gold saum.

not written in stone... and this does not mean that this definitly happened... it is what i think happened though,..... i still believe that massivore pellets was the a culprit... dats, arowana and clown knife fish are predators and can eat this food and thrive... but giving these to cichlids i learned first hand that it can kill... meant for my clown knife my severum ate the pellet instead... next day it was dead...sometimes it is a slow death and bloat etc sets in.. and it does not happen to every cichlid.. but ciclids are at risk...they should not be fed the massiovore ...

geez how big are those massivore pellets? I can't believe that could kill fish... I also am curious if it could have been a ph shock? did you test the ph? mabye with the water change and then adding the prime there was too much of a fluctuation especially if ph is high then that ammonia and nitrite would be even more toxic... so sorry for you loss those were some nice fishes!!!
