Riparium setup with Synodontis petricola

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks very much rubukai13. I will come back a bit later with a list of plants.

I only tore down the emersed plant layout. The fish and substrate and everything else is still in there. I wanted to use these plants for propagation and I wanted to get some new plants in there to try out too.

simply WICKED ! =) ha, beautiful tanks ! I may start a riparium myself !

Just send me a PM if you might ever want to get one going. Ripariums are generally easier than regular planted tanks because you don't have to inject CO2 or fight algae so much.

Now I'm using this setup as a temporary riparium plant propagation tank. There are plants hung on all four panes of glass and it's kind of a mess. It's not much of an aquarium display at the moment, but looks kind of cool from above.

All the best aquarists come from Wisconsin! :D

Beautiful, again...why do you always take your setups down though? Just because the plants have grown out so much?

Wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!! man.. thats all I have to say

I just love Riparium's and Catfish so needless to say...I love love love this tank! Can you give me a little more details on how you make the foam trellis and insert the plants and such? I think I would like to try this in the future. Those lilly blooms were amazing! Also I noticed that in many pictures of your plants the leaves are wet. Is this splash up from the filter or do you spray them regularly? Where do you buy your plants from?

Thanks very much. Those riparium cup planters and trellis rafts are all from Riparium Supply.

I have gotten plants from several different sources. A lot of them are marginal aquatic plants that are used in garden ponds. There are certain houseplants (e.g., Spathiphyllum) and emersed aquarium plants (e.g., Bacopa) that work well.

Most of these plants do fine just in regular home humidity levels. In the shots where there is water on the leaves I only misted them because it helps to deepen the colors in the photograph.
