Ripariums for Plant Filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I made another new scape for the 50-gallon setup. You can see that I replaced that largest rock on the right and a couple of others.

I have a quick photo update from last night for the 120 riparium with Mexican livebearers.

I replanted the whole thing and it is still growing in. It will be a little while before it gets to be nice and full again.

I also changed the fish stocking. I replaced the Xenoataenia resolane with another goodeid, Ilyodon furcidens. The I. furcidens are a better aquarium fish. They are nice and robust and never stocp swimming. I'll try to get a fish close up or two the next time that I am over there so you can see.

I made some more headway on the brackish riparium setup that I am putting together for mangrove trees and a few yet to be determined fish. It is going into a 30 breeder in the corner down in the basement shop.

Those pieces of driftwood are some nice manzanita stumps that I am soaking while I pull everything else together. I need to go get some aragaonite sand for the bottom of the tank.

I will have more pictures and details about this project over in my journal thread...

Last night I finally got back to work on the riparium project in my 56 column tank.

This is going to be a high-humidity setup with crypts, Anubias and a few other plants. I think that I have good ideas for fish stocking for this one too.

Yeah this tank has a nice shape. It is like a 65 tall but seems to have more visual depth because it is not quite as wide.

I am working on getting some pretty cool West Africa fish for this one.
