Here's the FTS for that brackish setup...

I have been experimenting with more new palnts for ripariums. I foud a nursery in Hawaii (Floribunds Palms) that carries hundreds fo species of palms. They have several that are water-associated palms. I included some of these in my recent order with them and got these three plants potted up in riparium planters. Now they are in my 50G riparium setup.

I really want to figure out the fish stocking for the 56 Column that I'm working on. I think that I should get something weird to use as a centerpiece fish to go along with the weird plants.

What do you all think about a mormyrid? I have never kept them and the Internet says that they can be tricky. There is an LFS that have two of them. They look just like the one that shows up the most when you search, Gnathonemus petersii. The fish in the store were about 4" long, but supposedly this fish gets big (>12") so it's probably not the best choice. I was reading about other species that only grow to 6" or so. I wonder if I could track one down.

Another really cool West Africa choice would be a buffalo head cichlid, Steatocranus casuarius. This is another fish that would get too beefy for this tank with only ~20 gallons of water in it, but maybe I can find another Steatocranus sp. that woudl be smaller(??).

Wow I like that Microctenopoma idea. That looks like a cool fish. Have you ever kept the Microsynodontis? DO they hide most of the time? I wonder if I could hope to find those?

I could set this tank up with a fast current for the Steatocranus. It's only ~20 gallons water so a Koralia shoudl really blow it around in there pretty good.
