he is actually exactly right. The statement about not being able to sell was a completely different statement then being ripped off. It was the fact that I was sold fish at a high price that were not high value fish. But I was able to trade them in at the guy I got them from and get my moneys worth out of it so it all works out in the end. I just meant that the original prices i posted seemed kinda high for 1" juvi fish.

What did you buy them as???

buy fish and keep them, then you have no buyers remorse when you try and sell them

man all you guys *****ing about prices. here whinge about these prices in oz.
Birchirs, 3 inches to 4 inches $280-$380
Silver aro's 10-20cm $220-$350
Green aro's 10-20cm $400-$600
The fish situation in Oz sure blows but at least you guys can actually get greens and reds if you can afford them.We cant get any Formosus aros.

i agree that i didnt have to buy them but this topic is pointless now as i got rid of the fish already. Also i didnt buy them to try to sell them later i bought them to keep them long term but the plans i had fell through and they outgrew the tanks i have room for and i had nowhere to keep them long term so i wanted them to go to a good home but nobody seemed to want them so i just took them back to the lfs i got them at. I was more trying to find out if people agreed that i overpaid or not.

Apparently i was not very clear. No we cant just "get" them. Every single fish i listed is ILLEGAL and classified as noxious species. All the fish we get are smuggled from asia. Monolicous will back me up here, there were 4 people last month caught trading red aro's, they were checked for chips and all were fined $50,000 per aro.

To give you an example, saratoga jardini ( you guys call it an aro) is a native fish, here they cost us minimum $120 for a 10cm fish and its a native!? And S.leichardti we cannot buy legally due to its cites listing in the last few years.

Wow, that really sucks. Canada seems to be better in getting the fish, though they are still comparably expensive. But at least they're legal (so far).

I am a bit confused because the new ammendmant to QLDs noxious fish didn't include silvers or Pbass. Gars yes, snakeheads were already illegal and since when could we not buy S. leichardti legally. Cites listed???? A fish that is sold, bred and used to stock dams up here. Never mind that it has a take home limit of 1 per person and a size limit of 50cm to keep while fishing.
Additions to QLD's noxious fish from 1 August 2009. See link. http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/cps/rde/dpi/hs.xsl/28_13027_ENA_HTML.htm
Current noxious fish list http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/cps/rde/dpi/hs.xsl/28_13605_ENA_HTML.htm
I do agree on the rediculas prices here though.

100% True

If only those Arows didn't have chips they wouldn't have been able to determine if they were smuggled or bred localy.
