Hey guys, so i never really had a big pleco before, and I thought i'd try an 8 inch one out for my 125 gallon tank. It seems like a common sailfin pleco, and it is about 8 inches long. The only issue is there was no price marked on display. The man charged me 25 bucks for this pleco, and I was suspicious, but having spent a good few hundred bucks there already I just took it. Is this too much money for a common pleco? Should I go ask for money back? (I may seem like a cheapass but I'm really not. It's just the concept of being ripped off that doesn't fly by me)

Thanks guys, I know them and I sorta thought they were the cheapass kind. I'll go back, try to find a display price and see if i can take some store credits. It's been bothering me, especially because common plecos aren't the prettiest things around.

If you are happy with the fish right now and you were comfortable paying $25 for it at the time you didnt get ripped off. You could have probably bought a smaller one cheaper but would have to wait for it to grow.

..my thoughts exactly...do you like him? you were willing to pay that much for him at the time. If you like him then i say no he was worth it^_^

The price of a sailfin peaks when they are around 6-8 inches but I've never seen one over $20 nor would I pay for for one over $15. Given that you are in California, I'd say he got you for a few dollars.
