Ripped off for pleco?

Way I see it with fish like that, you paid the store a $25 adoption fee. This is actually fair enough, the big fat thing probably took up a whole tank to itself, and ate who knows how much food. If the store had stocked the tank with baby plecos, bought for $5 and sold for $10, and sold 10 of them in a week, they would have made $50 on that tank.

As it is, they probably swapped that puppy for a $5 (cost) baby, then sold it to you for $25, so only made $20 from that tank.

They aren't a charity, and a fish is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. To you it was worth $25, so that's what you paid. A bargin? Maybe not, but it's a big fish. Per ounce it's still a pretty good price :D

Enjoy your pleco :)

I found that some lfs are willing to discount it just to get rid of it because most larger common pleco don't sell as fast. Never hurt to ask in the future

I'd say that by driving back, would be wasting your money.. your time and gas..I don't think that price was bad .. a common at that size would probably be aroud $15 at a mom & pop shop here.. but at Petco or Petsmart don't remember which one you went to... it sounds about right... GL though!
