yea that way you can make sure that you have the money to build them and that way they dont take forever to cycle because the filters will hold some BB for the start of a new ones.

Weren't you just having trouble figuring out what to put in this tank? Did you find something big you like... a couple somethings?

aslo keep in mind that hieght is the only real factor in pressure so one tank about 600 gal with a few windows is probably cheapper the three smaller tanks.

Also i agree on build the playwood tank first, BB is a good point plus many tanks have been started on here and not finished, would be a shame to take apart a good 125 for that Finding a deal on a leaking tank is the best way to go. less to lose
 
seems funny to me man but I did also break a twenty trying to cut it apart and make a sump. If u want glass go to home depot. Or grab another tank at the LFS. Just the tank isnt too bad if You want to make a stand. The 4ft 55s around NYC are like 89.99 for just the tank.
 
Use a plane to get the trim off. As for separating the panels, I don't know. I've dismantled 10 gallons but they have 1/8" thick glass.
