River Monsters and new fish keepers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I buy/ship in fish and sell them to people in the area, because in my area, there are even some common fish that you can't find. (clown loaches, peacock cichlids, eels etc) I make a small profit back when I sell them, but with water changes, food etc.. it amounts to a loss really...

but anyways, when people inquire about them to me, I ALWAYS ask

How big is the tank? What do you have in it already? How long has it been established? Have you had any problems with it? What is your filtration?

Then here's the shocker that some people absolutely HATE- I will either deny them right away because of their answers, or I will personally deliver the fish myself, and upon arrival everything gets checked, parameters etc... Then if the fish dies, I know that it's something the buyer caused.

I know it's not a pet store, and I know pet stores don't do that, but I really think that if pet stores did a better job at taking care of their fish, and informing their customers then people would buy more, AND be happy about their purchases, and you would get less fish brought back to you.

There would be a great deal more fish keepers out there if they were told how to properly start from the get go....An only one River Monster fish can be housed and thats the Pirhana and some Payara and Tigerfish (not Goliath)

They would buy less bud.

Logically looking at things a majority of their sales are return customers cause their fish died.

Being "good" would mean a customer buys a few fish every couple years, that's the last thing they want.
