River Monsters Season 9: Last Season

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Exactly but sometimes he attempts to create drama and scare tactics about certain fish. I've been up on the Colombia river in Portland and caught some big sturgeon. I never felt scared of them they are massive gentle Giants with big rubber mouths.

of course the drama has to be created, or else it would be just like any other fishing shows on tv. it's irritating but a necessary part of the show for entertainment purposes. the thing that bothers me most is the terrible cliff hangers before every commercial break. Columbia river holds massive sturgeon. I grew up on the Columbia in Richland wa . fished those waters every chance from the Hanford reach down to the mouth. the snake holds big sturgeon too.

Yep been waiting for it to come back all winter, was bummed out when I saw the first previews saying it was the final season.

Jeremy is actually a very good angler, if you've ever read his book or followed his series that was called "Jungle Hooks" that preceded River Monsters you would agree. He's been a die hard serious angler his whole life. The over dramatic antics he does on River Monsters is not his doing, that's just all part of what it takes to keep the "average viewer" watching. Just like with show's like "Tanked" they have to do things to keep the average non fish guy interested.

I've watched the show numerous times and I wouldnt say he is a good angler. Some of the things he does I just shake my head at. The way he describes his techniques are almost always wrong. Talked to a few guides that helped him down in South America and they had interesting views of him. Yes the network probably makes him be dramatic but the way he uses his gear shows inadequate technique.

Totally disagree with you, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I've seen a few other shows that are a little better to watch. No offense to Jeremy Wade but he is a terrible Fisherman and slightly overdramatic. Still awesome to see the fish though.
He's dramatic due to the show telling him to be lol. He's on record stating they make him act out randomly and write in his notebook for dramatic shots haha.
I would disagree with that. Sturgeon big peaceful fish yet legends of attacks. Gar is another peaceful fish that has legends of attacks. The show attempts to show that a hyper aggressive killer when in reality any fish can kill someone. In all of the episodes I have yet to see a freshwater fish that will stalk humans intentionally.
99% of the big non aggressive fish Jeremy went after were investigated for having pulled people in to their deaths, not actually attacking them. The vundu catfish, the sturgeon...and many others were all said to have drug people under, not attacked.

Thank you, the guy is a damn good fisherman, the show ruined him though because I do agree a lot of the things he does on the show are completely offbase haha.
Tanked, now those guys and their antics are annoying.

That show is indigestible. I can't watch it. They make amazing tanks, but can't act for anything.

The worst thing about shows like tanked isn't the acting, but the fact that those fish they put in the tanks are destined to die.

Yep. Remember the one they did for the drum store with the drums as tanks? I want to know how they expected them to do any maintenance on that set up. That had to be the worst one I have ever seen them do. I like the show just because it's about aquariums, but the way they present it is just ridiculous.
