Hi my tank is really boring at the momet i need to do something with it so i thought about bogwood can't find it any where then i thought about rock's i could just go to the riverand scrub and boil them right??? if not then where can i get rock's??? online suggestions on what i should do.

Yes, you can do that. Nice scrub and boil or bake them. If they come from fresh water they will likely make the transition to your tank safely...I usually just pour vinegar one the rocks. If they fizz do not put them in your tank. If they do nothing add them...Has worked for me for many years...Post pics when you get them just to play it safe if you like :)

DONT BAKE!

Sure, the first 1000 rocks you bake might not explode. This site has 30,000 members.

google "river rocks explode"

I can imagine some ugly scenarios if you have a gas oven.

Limestone blows up and hurts like hell! It's fun to throw it in a fire though... Home Depot (if you have them) has huge bags of river rock for super cheap. You can look there, that's where I got all of mine.

or go to a local rockyard (search your phonebook and internet). i bought 200 lbs of riverrock and boulder for 26 bucks.

and i agree--dont ever bake a rock! powerwashing and/or a very mild bleach solution soaking will do.

I picked up huge bags of river rock and lava rock from the Garden Center at Lowes. The bags were $3.00 each. Cannot beat the deal. The only problem is rinsing and soaking. Took forever.

At what temp does baking a rock become dangerous? At what temp do bacteria die off and the like? lol Yeah do not put a rock in the oven at 500 degrees or higher. Bake it low and it will have the same effect on the internal temp as boiling....Put it less than 200 and you will be fine.....Do not use limestone.....

LOL but i like when stuff goes bang:grinno: but i was'nt going to that but now that you mention it:D but i think i have enough explosives already also co2 ice is fun:topic: lol yer i got explosive's out of rock's lol i will look around my area sometime for rock's i shall look in the yellow page it's a auzzy thing i think it's just auzzy anyway thanks for the help.

yellow pages is all over...either way if you check out a local stone yard you will have a huge selection to pick from...different shapes, colors, styles...i personally have small "candy" pebbles and larger "candy" river cobbles. just use nothing metallic or limestone
