River Rocks For My Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Perth eh? There should be a lot of stones around that area to forage for. If you go on a walk, just observe the footpath more to find cool rocks. Or better yet, go to Bunnings and they should have bulk rocks or a landscaping yard.

So you couldnt come up with a better decor setup then what you have now? It also looks like you just introduced the sand or it is still cycling by the water cloudiness.

lol i think i might go to the outside world:nilly: today to look at some places i probly should i hav'nt been outside for sometime and then i will post a new thread asking how to organise my tank.

Rocks and stones from dry locations are fine for baking. Rocks that may have been wet, possibly have absorbed water. When these wet rocks are baked, the water inside heats and expands. Unlike air, water can not be pressurized. When it expands, the rock explodes. This is the reason you should never build a fire pit with river rock.

Of course, just to save myself. Baking any rock is at your own risk, not mine.

Personally, I would just bleach them for 10 minutes, rinse them, and let them 100% dry for 24-48 hours.

Baking a rock is kinda like putting a egg in the microwave:grinno:.

Can anyone prove that all rocks explode? Have any of you been in a sauna? Do you believe everything you hear or would you guys like to know how to disseminate myth from fact?
