Roaches as Food

I think Blaptica dubia is for squeamish people who are scared of insects (although why anyone would be scared of insects is beyond me).

They don't smell, can't climb smooth surfaces, the males have wings but will not likely fly, they have a greater protein:chitin ratio than crickets, they're quiet... I could keep going.

Just fed my 20 inch Black Arowana 3 adult dubias and my 12 inch High Shine Silver Arowana 1 dubia. They ate the roaches fast and were hungry enough that they even had room for some Arowana sticks after words.

My girlfriend is squeamish with bugs, but I used to feed my flowerhorn roaches that i would find in my old nasty long beach apartment

That is nasty Dude. Probably have got know clue what those roaches are load up with that you are passing on to your Flower Horn. My Roaches are fed mostly leftover greens from the kitchen and some fish flakes as a protein source.

That's bogus sorry to hear that.:irked:

roaches r good for aro, when i was kid i used to catch all kinda roaches, frog, lizards for the aro owners/sellers back home.

Can you give a description of your dubia colony? What do you keep them in? how did you start it? how long did it take to get established. I hear that they don't climb too well and can't move like the common roach can. I've been considering it for my cichlids.
