Roaches as Food

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been occasionally feeding my Arowanas roaches and they still eat their food sticks, pellets and thawed prawn as normal. Some may not want to hear this however my Arowanas prefer roaches for food.

i just started my 5 inch aro on dubia roaches. I was tired of mealworms b/c the skin of mealworms would be all over the tank somehow. Plus the bedding would start to smell over time or they turn into beetles.

at first, when it chewed the roaches, it would make the top of water very foamy. but its beginning to eat them since i have zero luck on pellet training them.

since, i dont want to risk starving it death at this young age, is it possible to make it a daily food source till my aro gets bigger and then i will pellet train it. i know roaches got more protien. i am currently gut loading it with pellets and water crystal

Yea, I'm doin the same too but with different type of roach known as blatta lateralis.. In fact, I purposely bought them and started building a colony a while back after seeing my aro starve for 2 months which is a no no in my book.. Now the roaches are the aro's main and only diet..
