Roadkilled Coyote = Fun Science Lesson

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats pretty ballsy. Most parents around here would freak out about bringing a random dead animal into the class. I bet it was really cool for the kids though, wish I could've done stuff like that in school.

:barf:

AWESOME!!! on the other hand, you weren't concerned about the possibility of ticks on the coyote?

Did you make a determination on the exact cause of death?? Aside from being hit by an automobile....

I believe there was a roadrunner at the scene of the crime also, might want to question him.

That is a very cool science lesson. I remember when I was in my biology class when I was 15 we had sheep organs to disect. That was pretty cool but the full animal would have been better, like you managed to do.

lol!!!! :nilly: Roadkill in the classroom.

I called the parents of the younger students. Only one mom was concerned, but her daughter talked her into letting her watch.

Our school is up on "the Hill" - around here almost everybody hunts, traps, or raises their own meat. We have some kids that are bussed in from town (their choice), but mostly they are farm kids.

It was cool, I'm sure the dead Coyote will be mentioned in many an 8th grade graduation speech over the next four years.

Thanks!

I checked it pretty thoroughly for ticks and fleas. Ticks are actually fairly rare in Western Oregon, plus, we don't have Lyme Disease or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever around here.
