Awesome little guy, I had no idea they had variants for rock bass, without red eyes. learn somethin every day :)

nice rock bass. i have one too that i just received and I'm growing it out temporarily in a ten as it is only an 1" long. unfortunately mine is not one of the red eye variants which I'm bummed about but i wanted a small one and this is all i could get. i have him eating bloodworms and he really loves the high current in my tank.

They can change their eye color with their pattern and skin color. Yours is also not comfortable as he's sitting against the background using his camo pattern.

But he looks a bit skinny and his eyes also appear kind of cloudy, so I'd try to feed him heavily and keep a watch on him.

This is what rock bass should look like around his size. Either the one in front, or back. Not slim and elongated. They should be circular, or somewhat oval but with a fat belly. It's imperative that they're fed daily at that size.

I'm not criticizing you btw, as you said you received him from someone else. Just trying to give advice.

Ok cool and thanks. I will start feeding daily and keep up with healthy water. He was doing that because the photo was taken after a water change and he came from a 5 gallon aquarium that was half filled with no airiator or filter along with not being fed for two weeks. So right now I've been feeding him bloodworms every two days will make it everyday now. Also, I'll add more plants for cover.

:( I hope he makes it. That explains his condition. I'd be feeding him several times a day in that case, since he can only fit so much in one sitting.

I can guarantee you he's stunted now, but if you get him eating and fattened up he should be ok. Just probably won't get very big.
