I recently snagged a rope to draw the attention away from my bichirs because my wolf liked to push em around, literally, wouldnt bite but would just push. There happened to be one big enough to hold its own (at about 12 inches) so i picked it up, its eating well, brine shrimp cubes and earthworms. It may have snagged a guppy i bred before my wolf (red hi fin) and bichirs got them all.
I would go with earthworms, bloodworms would be great if theyll take em, i personally think they make too much of a mess but thats just my own preference, brine shrimp, tilapia, try to eventually get it on pellets though. You can help egg this on without starving by sneaking pellets into tilapia or earthworms so they get used to the taste. Mine has not been a shy eater as my bichirs are (ornate and gold dust). Hell munch anything in front of me, even hand feed him when my wolf was full. For sure a cool fish, i dont know why they arent more popular, the only survivng member of the genus. I would LOVE to see more species discovered
wow didnt realize this was a really old thread lol
