Thanks for the update! It's nice to hear how things work out in the long run. Had I seen this original thread and for any future readers, I would have recommended removing the original ropefish to a temporary tank for a few days as well as quarantining the new one, then redecorate the tank and introduce them both at the same time with the lights off. This may help it seem like a "new" nuetral territory and neither one would feel like they have a claim to it. You may have done this, it was unclear. If you redecorated with the original still left in the tank then she would still feel like it was her space and the new fish was intruding. Anyway, glad it has worked out well for you and the fish!
