The exact origin of Rose Queens is slightly muddled. History of the Red Parrot by Jian Zhi Chen (2004), who has written extensively on hybrid cichlid ancestors states with certainty the the offspring of a Red Devil and a Vieja syspilum is a Blood Parrot, either a Red Diamond or a Red Precious Stone, depending on the sex of each parent. Red Precious Stones exhibit the mouth deformation (See "Images of Red Precious Stone Parrot Fish). This combination does not produce a Rose Queen. Gold Fader Flowerhorns have Trimac Blood, but not Trimac spots in most cases. Rose Queens may have arisen by a similar color evolution.
