I currently have a L191 and a L330 royal plecos. Initially they were in a 120 and 125. However due to competition from other inhabitants the L191 was moved from the 120 to the 125.
I have heard they are territorial from one site, then social from a vendor. I don't see them fighting, but they are both showing signs of not eating - even though I put algae wafers in daily and feed fresh food at least 2x a week. I don't want to loose them, and am going to switch to fresh food daily, but need to know if they are just stressing each other by being in the same tank...2 females BTW.

There is a bunch of wood in the tank...

ZooMed has a deal on their mopani so I bought 2 large and 3 medium pieces from Petsmart and will pick them up after work.

Haven't had any responses regarding their compatibility from here or Tropicalfishforums.com, so I have 2 options:

1. Put a bunch of mopani in the 125 in the hopes it will break up the tank; then feed them fresh foods daily in the hopes of saving them.
2. Temporarily set up a tub for the L191 with some of the mopani and a Marineland HOB filter that is currently on the 60 gallon. Also feed them both fresh food daily in the hopes of saving them.

I did make a batch of Morning Wood and threw 3 substantial pieces in the 125, about 3x3 or 4x4 inches. The next day I saw 1 piece left, smooth and 1/4 of the original size. To be honest I have a lot of plecos in this tank, the royals being the biggest.
I also threw in three sliced zucchini pieces last night. Had an early start for work so I didn't see if anyone
ate it.

So I cancelled the order for the mopani as I remember I have a small stash of Malaysian driftwood at home. One was previously used but the other 2 were brand new.

I decided to go with my first option, add fresh wood and keep them both in the 125 for now and feed them fresh veggies/fruits. I never see any injuries on them, nor do I ever see any aggression when they are close to each other.
I added 3 pieces to the 125. The reused piece is on the left, and you can see Belle the L330 on the front side. The L191 is on the same side but at the back of the tank. The other 2 pieces are on the right, one is visible on the side-kinda reddish brown. The other piece is behind the giant wad of anubias.

I didn’t think I’d ever answer a pleco question as I’ve never really kept them until recently with 2 Panaque nigrolineatus. They’re in separate 240g’s and both are around 6 inches but they are chasing away 12” plus group of melanura/nanoluteus in one tank and group of lyonsi/panamensis in another. It’s rather entertaining as they sort of spazz out and it’s enough to chase larger cichlids away from food, especially when feeding Repashy. I don’t think I’ll ever be interested in plecos like some fellow hobbyist as I still have a long list of new world cichlids I want to keep before I die.

Beautiful 🤩. I love plecos, definitely a more the merrier, and variety is the spice of life, but unfortunately space is the limit (and $$$$ 🤣 ).
