RTC and TSN Information

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There's a pic of a filamentosum somewhere that has it, and I've seen fish other than catfish such as oscars with it.

I'm starting the RTC's meds today.

Half dose Stress coat, Melafix and daily 25% wc's.

He's been put into a 100L quarantine tank.

When doing waterchanges do I dose the meds according to new water? or total volume?

New water and the daily dosing guid on the bottle

I've been doing as suggested and the little guy is definetly showing a little more activity, but I havent been able to take a look at his gills. Still taking in bloodworms... and Melafix reminds me of Vicks Vapor rub.

Upon closer inspection today, it seems he's actually missing part of his gill on the underside. I tried to find a picture online so I could describe it better, but had no luck.

I'm going to keep him in QT while my tank is being built. Other than the gill he seems to be perfect.

Are these compabtible in a 180??

The RTC is about 8 inches anf the gar is about a foot?

Any thoughts??

Definitely not compatible unless you raise the gar in a seperate tank and when it's full grown maybe they can live together.

Finally found a picture of an RTC's gills. The red shows the part of his gill that is missing, meaning there is a gap here.

I just moved my redtail to 120gal with my Tiger Shovelnose, Channel cat and my peacock bass 2 weeks ago. The redtail has become fascinated by the air stick stuck to the side of the tank pushing playing swimming around the hose. In the 55 gal. every few days he would pull out the air tube from under the stone. I'm glad he's have fun because he is my favorite monster but last night was feeding time at the zoo and he did not even care, just kept playing and playing. Which I think made everyone else happy because the redtail usually rules when it comes to feeding time. i have been kind of neglecting him. The tank is so much bigger /Deeper so it's harder to pet him and play with him ( which he loves go figure). He is etremely socially when he sees me and gets mad if I don't pay attention to him. I know we are talking about a fish but he is like a little person it amazes me.
