RTC and TSN Information

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey there are a ton of posts on here so I might've missed it but there is a tsn x rtc hybrid at my lfs. Are these naturally occurring hybrids or are they captive bred?

Never mind. I found it. :)

Please help, when I woke up the other day I noticed that my hybrid seemed to break one of his upper horns off and the the has a film covering it. His dorsal fin has a whole in it and looks horrible, his tail has a whole in it now and he has open sores on his tail and up on one of his gills. I was trying to treat it with adding stress coat and that seemed to help the soars for one day, but they came right back. I bought some melafix and started treating with that yesterday. Is there anything i need to do or not do. He is a couple years old and about 20-24in long. My ph in the tank is good and he is in a 220gallon tank. I never had a problem with my cats until we moved to our current house. The same thing happened to my TSN and he didn't make it.
Thank You Scott

Are there sharp decor and objects in the tank? Does he have other tank mates? As far as healing, that should be almost instant lol. Well compared to most fish i consider it instant. Id think in a few days he'd look good as new.

Mines about 18" and he heals almost over night. Somehow i woke up teh other morning and his back lower fin under his tail was all bloody and there were the bones showing and the skin all ripped up. In 2 days, his fins fully regrown, bones back under the skin, and he looks good as new.

perhaps a few water changes.

Nothing sharp really, all that is in the tank is a couple peices of driftwood, no substrate

is it okay to feed my rtc with live baby african sharptooth catfish (clarias gariepinus)?
coz my RTC seems to love to eat those fishes.

Hello! I have a 21" Tiger Shovelnose Catfish I bought him when he was just 4", does anyone else have one of these fellas that are scared to eat nothing but pellets? I've tried feeding him smelts, worms, and even hot dogs. He'll come up to it with his whiskers, touch it and dip away to the other side of the tank.
Also, I have noticed that at random moment he'll be laying there and all of a sudden he'll start swimming and smacking his mouth like opening and closing it really fast, it's so load I can here it from across the room it sounds like someone knocking on the glass.
And last question, is there anyway to tell if it's a boy or a girl? Thank you for input it's much appreciated :)

I love my catfish, so cute and so perfect :)
