a few years ago there was a pic with a catfish who tried to swallow a basketball. it was stuck in its mouth and coudnt swin to the bottom cuz of the air in the ball . the ball was half in half out its mouth. catfish will eat whatever they can swallow they are scavenger bottom dwellers that will hunt live prey. in china they have swallowed human children as well as small adults. thats one reason you couldnt pay me to noodling like those nuts down south.:screwy:

its true. catfish actualy have poor eyesight so they evolved barbels. thats because they are usually found in muddy water. i have personally witnessed a Red Tail Catfish eat the same fish skelleton 4 times. It was 4'' long in an lfs tank and there was the remains of a 2'' fish on the gravel, stripped to the bones, and every time the RTC passed over the carcass its barbels brushed it and it snapped up the carcass and spit it out.

If you choose to feed your RTC a rodent meal again, may I suggest next time feeding a dead one. I'd also look to upgrade it's home.

I gotta say I don't see the point to this display and also I'd imagine it could be risky? You'd look a right tit if that MOUSE (thats right Mouse) got stuck and it made the RTC pop its clogs. As for the mess it'd make when the thing gets digested...the water looked bad enough as it is without risking further deterioration in quality. I apologise if I'm having a go but you'd expect it if you post something like that here.
Why bother when fish feed fine on prepared and frozen foods?

Don't feed it land animals. The difference is your not only torturing the rodent but drowning it to.

first of all, tank is too small.
second of all, water quality looks pretty bad from what the video shows
third of all, that was an awesome vid :D
i agree. dont buy the fish if you can't buy the tank to house them

I'm saddened to read this whole thread. The bottom line is who cares if it's a mouse or a rat (it's a mouse) but who cares? Why badger him about it? It's his aquarium and his fish. I'm sure he wants the best for his RTC. Maybe he plans to upgrade the aquarium maybe not. No one asked if that was his intention. Some people upgrade aquariums as they go along because they can't start at the top.
I see a lot of self righteousness going on here. It's hard to pass judgement on someone's water quality through a picture. We are here to enjoy our hobby together but there are an awful lot of people who just seem to enjoy jabbing their fellow hobbyists.
If he wants to feed his RTC a "treat" occasionally, it's HIS business. Cut the guy some slack. If you disagree with him then that's fine but there is no need to be belligerent about it. If you say things in a nice way you get a lot further.

:iagree:
drowning is one of thev worst ways to go. in my aunts pool i throw plastic fish in and e and my sister dive for it. sometimes i stay down 2 seconds too long and i realize but meanwhile im at the bottom of the pool and the next 5 seconds are pure hell...thats being under for 45 seconds...im not dying that way...not filling my lungs with water or blacking out...
