RTC Heavy Breating and Wont Eat

Do another water change, and another and in the meantime find another place for the fish. At least go get a large rubbermaid tote that he can turn around in and put the filters on that. Oh and do another water change. Maybe another member close by can adopt this rtc.
where are you at in illinois, i live in iowa, i would be willing to meet you somewhere in illinois tomorrow if you message me back to try to save the fish. if you keep it, period point blank with water at those levels, the fish will die. more than likely it could be belly up tomorrow.
Redtaillover- I wont jump on the bandwagon harshly here but seriuolsy fella your RTC is FAR FAR to big for the tank you are keeping it in!
Your feeding schedule is also far to extreme a fish of 16" only needs feeding once maybe twice a week at best.
An ammonia level of 4 + is absolutely massive and too be honest I'm surprised your RTC is still alive.
You need to do very large & regular water changes & cut right back on the feeding & increase all aeration & filtration to remedy this situation ASAP.
More importantly this fish MUST be moved into a bigger tank fella or at the very least give it to someone witha bigger tank for it even if only for the interim.
