RTC Heavy Breating and Wont Eat

Thats a great setup you have going already. Be sure to watch your water quality, that is a small filter. It should be fine because he is such a small guy, but make sure you don't overfeed. Start reading the DIY filter section, and get an idea of what you are going to do. A tote, a filter sock, and a bag of biomedia will go a long way to keeping your water pristine. Yeah I will be getting a MUCH bigger filter then that, but for now that was the fast fix....Just waiting for the water temp to reach its mark and the Ph to go down a little bit more and He'll be getting put in. I cant wait and im sure he cant either! :headbang2

make sure it is cycled all the way, tanks take several weeks to cycle properly and you dont want it to be full of ammonia when you put him in there, make sure only nitrates are showing up on the tests before you add him, but yeah the set-up is looking great, i wish i could set something like this up but i need to be in a more permanent house before i can do something like this lol

as far as filtration, there is a great thread on here in the pond forum i think where somebody made their own filter out of one of those plastic storage containers with the pull out drawers. im sure some others have done this same thing as well, its really an ingenious way to build your own more economical filter and the most expensive thing is the pump

Yeah i am going to be working on when of them soon ^_^ Im totally excited! The Water is being tested everyday. 0 Ammonia atm, I cant wait for everything to be cycled.

I'm really glad he's in a much bigger pond. This looks much better for him. I can't help but mention that it seems like you've only been cycling for less than a week. THis isn't enough time for it properly cycle. Hopefully I'm wrong and its been cycling for longer. Keep checking the parameters every day to make sure you don't get any spikes.
 
I know there isn't anyway its cycled, but its okay. You need to put the filter media from an established aquarium on that system. If you still have your other tank up and running, move the filter pads into your wet dry. Keep them wet, don't rinse them off and it will get the bio going. He won't be able to put up with any ammonia or nitrites and in that much water you won't be able to do enough wc to lower levels if they start to go up.

Yes we have a bunch of established media in the filter system. I have check the water everyday since we first set the pool up. He seems to be doing ok, and looks like he is enjoying all his space, this is bigger then the pond he was staying in...just cruising around. Ive been keeping an eye on him constantly. All the parameters are good, been keeping a very close eye on the ammonia and nitrites. We also have Ammonia clearing Media in the filter system as well!
 
SWEET!! he looks really happy in that new set-up. MORE PICTURES :) i cant wait until i can have a nice set-up like this, my dream is to set-up a nice indoor pond devote it to just a RTC and a TSN (they will be called Bob and el Tigre, lol)
 
Ill get some more photos when i get back from my vacation to Florida. I leave tomarrow so wont be around him..He is swimming around like no tomarrow, and seems to love it. Although I need to get some more stuff in the bottom for him because he doesnt have much for hiding places at the moment, but since the move he is back to hand feeding which is awesome, because after the move he was timid...but now he is back to normal and loving his new home. I promise I will post some more pictures when I get back from vacation!
