Ya I guess you learn from your mistakes and i shur will learn from this one, I will know more next time. I medicated him this morning but he was to far gone to come back, he was active but looked like sh*%@. About 4o'clock i could tell he wasnt going to make it because he started to tilt like he was going to float then he would swim a little, then stop and start to tilt. I did a small water change to see if that would help and then sat and watched for an hour till he took his last few gulps of air then stoped moveing. Barbosa was a great fish and will be miss. He was my first death and im shur its not the last , it just something that happens, I know i did all i could. It was a mouth fungus Im shur of it, his mouth was a little swollen then the got the red scrapes around his mouth and then on his head then he got a little better then he got way worst in one night then all of a sudden he was engolfed in white fuzzy stuff and his tail fell off in another night. I cryed and cryed and cryed but did not know why it was happeing, why do they get fungus , was it my falt because i have a RTCxTSN and a TSN and a marble achara cat that are all fine. I cleaned there tank out so good and I have a wet dry filter and a Two over the back filters that i replaceed all the filter pads in and cleaned the best i could. Im scared one of them got it to and it is going to spread to all my fish. and it that happens im going to Quit. Sorry for ranting on im just upset that barbosa is gone. thanks for every ones help sorry for the previous statment in the last post. THanks

thats a great attitude to quit when things get bad, ive had a filter leak on a 75 gallon in my room thus 40 gallons of water onto my parents livinging room, everyone loses fish, but as others said you gotta be pro active, for future notice, i would of bumped the temp up to at least 85-86 and medicated with something other than salt
if you replaced all the filter pads that is not helping since youve just gotten rid of all the BB in your filters making you tank for suscetible to disease ammonia buildup

good luck in the future

get that guy in a bigger tank, have max filtration, a big jet for lots of water movement and airstones or something to gets lots of air. make sure water is perfect bump up temp and add salt. with all those he should make it. i hope he makes, it good luck

oh so he died? sry to hear, i must have missed that

Based on description on the previous thread, Salt was the proper thing to do. traditionally Cats are not good with meds and Salt is always the First option with a temp bump.

I agree with that. That is usually the first thing I try. But as his description was going on I noticed it was sounding like what happened to my RTC. Ammonia burn with the fin and tail rot. That's why I told him which meds I used and how it helped him, and gave no problems.

I'm very sorry about your loss. It's so hard to loose your first fish, well any for that matter.

I hope you wont give up in this hobby. Now you have more knowledge under your belt, so when you see something like this pop up again you will be able to help someone else. It feels good to know these things, and especially to experience it first hand, maybe not to much the loosing part, but the rest, yeah, because then you can help others who are new with it. Plus you'll feel really good inside.

Sorry I'm ranting... It's late, and I need to go to bed.

Ya i know, I was just ranting to , I do agree with every thing. I was trying to be proactive, i did every thing and asked lots of people and tryed to reaserch, and i had him in a 10gal with a 30gal filter. I did the best i could , and i stayed home to watch him instead of going out with my friends. Im not really going to give up I was just reallly mad, He was the fish I was working every thing aroud. But hey you live and learn and some day i will be able to help some one, because you learn from your mistakes. Thanks everyone.
