RTC Journal

[Jakob]

This thread will be a journal about my rtc. I hope you will enjoy. This thread will be filled with pic's and I will update as often as I can.

Day 1 - February 7. 2011
I went to pick up the rtc which i had ordered a couple days before. He was in ok shape, a little stressed though. He went in a small grow out tank that already had an albino Senegalus in it which is about the same size. The rtc was given the name Mick Jagger because of it's wide mouth.

Waterchange: 35%

Day 2 - February 8. 2011
It isn't eating at this point, and the sen is biting it's fins and shredding them a bit so I removed the sen from the tank, so now the rtc has it to himself.

Day 3 - February 9. 2011
He started eating today, he ate shrimps and I guess he really liked them judging by how much he ate, little fatty.

Waterchange: 45%

He was measured 8cm/3" today

In my hand, I will take another photo later with him in my hand for comparison

good idea keeping a journal. and i will keep an eye on it myself as i have just got myself 2 more the same size in the last week. will be nice to see how mine do alongside yours... but i dont think its a good idea to keep picking him up to show the size of him. he will end up really stressed and stop eating or may even die. just lay your tape next to the glass to show how much he has grown. subscribed

Yeah I think it's a great idea for watching his growth and how he is going to evolve. Yeah I would like to see yours compared to mine. Post pics here in the cat media lounge!

Oh don't worry about me picking him up, I know my thing when it comes to fish. I will only pick him up when I will move him to the 125g.

Since I know someone will ask.... what are your plans for him when he gets huge? Indoor Pond maybe?

Unfortunately, I can't afford anything bigger than I have today, which is a 125. I plan to growing him up to about 20". I have a couple of friends that I know that are willing to take good care of him when he has out grown my 125.

No offense but growing a rtc to 20" in a 18" wide tank......not the best idea.

you dont plan to keep him ey long then jakob. my first 2 rtc went over the 2ft mark in the first year. one of them is around 3ft now. and the other i lost . he is now set in a clear gel block and i use him as a door stop lol
