I was at my LFS today, seeing about getting some piranha for my new 180g. I have never been to this place before and as i head into the fish section first thing i see is a huuugee tank with a 3ft. RTC! I have never seen one before cept in yalls avatars. They are so much cooler in real life! I started walking away and this thing followed me..! for some reason i was so fascinated by this cat i didnt even check out their piranhas!! Plus the name of this fish was Bubba...there isnt a better name for a catfish like this then bubba...I was so fascinated by this thing, i walk up to the tank and "bubba", prolly expecting food, comes right up to the surface...this was without a dought the most awesome fish i have ever seen!!

My question is tho, these things really are gigantic what size tanks do you RTC ownser keep them in. ( i am in no way gonna get one, i jus dont see how they could fit in a tank) i also wanna see pics of the set-ups

i didnt think so...however this one was in a tank w. 2 BF pacus, and in my opinion it wasnt too bad. he had alot of space and could turn around easily

yah rtc are very cool. mines in a 400gal tank and only 1yr old. currently 20" and this is what he hides in:

Got mine in a 1100 gal pond. Soon to be in a 350 gal pond after the completion of my mega pond for my 3' hybrid rtcxtsn. Mega pond will be in the neighborhood of 2500-3500 gals.

yeh like necro sed RTCs are naturally 'pond fish' because they are so wide and fat! unless u can get a HUGE tank. even if u get like one of those cheaper fibreglass tanks or cattle troughs it would be perfect for such a large beast.

i have decided buy a pool and use it as a pond(the inflatable ones)thinking of something of the size 10'x6'x4'
anyways right now both the RTCs are somewhere around 5"
but will go to the pond once they hit the 10" mark

just becareful that the pool walls are not too delicate cause RTCs have really sharp spikes on their sides which could easily puncture most inflatable devices...
