consider? i see people on here with them in 150's and 180's. and nobody complains to them. sorry if this comes off to you as yelling but i really don't want to spend the money if it is not an absolute must, and how would a TSN do then?

RTC? 7-8" a year? i think it grew slow. and i say 200G still won't be good enough for life.

i say that it won't be an absolute must be more of an obligation.

I agree with everyone else, rtc's need much more than what you want to spend and maintain.

I would never get an rtc unless I had 1000+ gallon pond to put it in. I just really believe in giving my fish a home that doesnt just feel like a small cage and gives them room to be truly comfortable.

Putting a 3 foot fish in a 6 or 8 foot tank just seems ridiculous to me.

RTC's grow 3foot + , needing a POND about 1000Gal's MIN' , tank mates anything which wont fit into their mouth . :)

yes, u need a VERY large setup. mine recently went to a 10,000 gallon pond someone had because i am moving and cant put up a setup for him. while he was in the tank though, it was alot of work. not to mention he ate just about all his tankmates haha. he was about 14 inches and less than a year old. ur gonna need a large pond and great filteration for these bad boys.

If you didn't want our opinions, you didn't have to ask! You had to know what we were going to say -- I think I've had this same conversation a hundred times in my life, and some of them are on MFK. Others have the same opinion I do. I think it is immature to purchase an animal without the intent to house it properly. Just because you want it isn't a good enough reason to take an animal from the wild and shorten its long lifespan by twenty years or so. I don't think you're going to hear what you want to hear, so you should probably just go ahead and do what you're going to do anyway! I'm sorry if I sound rude, but these situations frustrate me. Before you buy one, go to a public aquarium that has an Amazon exhibit. See one of these guys, as adults, up close. Then ask yourself if you can stuff that in a 180 gallon tank.
