You would not get a nitrate spike but you could get an ammonia spike but hopefully any tank set up for rtc would be used to large ammonia influx every time it poops...the nitrate would follow later once the nitrogen cycle was complete.

thanks for pointing that out.. we would assume the guy pointing out the puking may result in bad water quality is unaware of the nitrogen cycle.. I hate to be bothered by your quote since its childish and I have nothing to prove by this reply but still I do it, what is my problem?:nilly:

It seems as though this has worked itself out, but just to add:

I have read/lived through these scenarios several times and it seems to be consensus that RTCs will throw up anything that can't be eaten. Mine has swallowed rocks several times (big enough to see and feel in his stomach) and has passed them or spit them up every time.

same here, and each time, that seems to be the result. still just got a little nervous when it happened to mine. kinda like when ur kid gets the chicken pox. everyone gets them at some point and its very common, but you still dont like it.

My quote is scientifically correct so what part of it is childish? Your quote was scientifically incorrect.

Too many fish keepers are blissfully unaware of the nitrogen cycle and suggesting a nitrate spike would suggest the same . Sorry to be blunt but these are the facts and when someone needs help to save a fishes life I feel it is important to be factually correct.

I hope I did not cause offense to you, I just wanted to be clear.:D
