RTC swallowed my umbee...

I've heard this story and experienced this story a dozen times. He'll probably puke it up and make your tank absolutely filthy in a day or so. Be ready to do a massive water change and cleaning.

Felix said it best...don't have tankmates, just future meals

My old RTC at fish bigger than this and he literally couldn't swim but never puked, he just hid up and chilled until he was done digesting it :)

To OP I'm guessing by now you have realised that large catfish eat everything eventually, I think you need to decide to keep 1 large cat solo or trade/sell them :/ I had to do the same thing, it was hard but much better in the end

Sorry for the loss of that umbee, they're cool cichlids but this was bound to happen eventually if the two stayed together.

There should be a sticky for pics of cats after they ate a big tankmate. Happens pretty regularly, hopefully it was a learning experience.

Almost ANY catfish of ANY will eat fish if it fits in its mouth. The other night my 2" skinny Asian bumblebee cat tried to eat my 3" blue gourami. Luckily the gourami is ok but it was close. They just view every thing around them that moves as food they just need to be able to swallow it likes others have said :)

Wow! A 7inch RTC ate a 4-5 inch cichlid...I wouldn't have thought a RTC could do that with something almost the same size. but I've never had one so....
