rtc X tsn is not looking to good

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What size tank and filtration do you have there?
I don't care what you are "going to get", or what the "future plans" are,
I just need to know what we are working with now...so we can help you/your fish...

those sores dont look to good either. have you already tried table salt? and it irritated the sores more? with info and honesty, mfk can help. but like zennzzo said" what you running NOW! not later"

Sorry I took long to post I just got home
Its a 125 gallon tank with a 2 aqua 110's and and a fluval 305
i have a test kit and my parameters before my water change were as follows
Nitrate 0ppm
Nitrite .50ppm
ph 6.0 (very Low)
Amoni 4.0 (high)

I do 50% water changes every 5 to 7 days
I did a water change this morning as i was writing this so its been about 12 hrs already
Nitrate 5.0
nitrite 0ppm
amonia 1.0
ph 6.0

I will do another water change tonight not a big one maybe 30% but my question is how can i raise the PH i think that is the big problem here. I have a buffer but its for my saltwater tank which i think will raise me too high please i need feedback

Just to add i didnt add the table salt i went out and bought aquarium salt..

I was going to say sounds like amonia burns but I am going to let people wiht more experience then me answer this one

This tells me you are not cycled...
to start with zero NitrAte? this means you aren't established with BB.
A measurable amount of NitrItes tells us it is in mid cycle.

Since the fish are being stressed BIG time,
go get a bottle of SeaChem's "STABILITY"
follow the directions on the bottle EXACTLY
Hopefully the fish will survive the cycling.

Your Ph is a bit low, but stable is better than trying to bounce it all over the place.

You are de-chlorinating the tap water right?

this tank has been up for about 1yr and a half and i defintely take the chlorine out of the water

then your test kit is outdated or something....there is NO way you can have high Ammonia, measurable NitrIte, and ZERO NitrAtes and be cycled...
Somehow you nuked the Beneficial Bacteria...it is obvious by the test readings IMO....still I would get some STABILITY and get the BB back in shape...

It's not pH that's causing their problems, it's the highly toxic level of ammonia you have in that tank. Do you understand the cycling process? There's something wrong with your biological filter, and it's killing your fish. A cycled tank should have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite. If it's not, then it's not cycled. The problems you are seeing are related to water conditions, and most likely nothing else. Salt isn't going to do anything right now. You've got to get those parameters under control.
