RTC

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ours would be fed whatever is cheapest seafood wise at the time.

Squid and shrimp are always on hand, and we are getting a deal with a sushi restaurant to get their scrap mean from when they make all their little fillets.

You have a large body of water moving over a porous surface...and it has exposure to air on and off. Its the biggest wetdry you could ask for.

nowhere near enough for a RTC ....

Yet, bigger than any private sector keeper on this website.

Im not really sure what the point of your argument is here.

1. You dont understand biological filtration?
2. You dont want me to keep an RTC?

Slightly confused.

Point of the thread is for RTC keepers to talk about the Do's and Dont's. To show me their systems, talk about diet, tank size, and filtration.

If you want to learn more about my various filtration systems, some of which I have built for aquaculture that I could probably put you inside of, feel free to PM me. I know a thing or two about filtration, and especially bio filtration. Your post just seems pointless to me that is all.

I am still looking for more information and experiences guys! Thanks for all the help so far.

Fantastic way to keep fish you have there .... :screwy:

i dont have it heated because i keep a large mouth bass...the tank is not chilled, its at room temperature so you can calm down. they still eat and are all perfectly healthy.
i know ppl like to voice their opinion on here..but when you tell me im not keeping fish properly..that pisses me right off. :swear: you

FLESHY... i would ignore taksan

the cats will take shrimp no problem...with the size of pond you're talking about and filtration you will have no problem at all. you'll probably become quite attached to red tails. since ive been keeping them (plural because they obv get a big big for my 150 so i DO find ppl with suitable bigger enclosures) i usually come accross another small one and they hold that type of place in your heart you see one and go...ok i'll grow out another haha

I've noticed throwing up only if they have been severly overfeed, or you have
moved/handled shortly after feeding, the waterfall idea is something i've never
considered, i really like the idea, I really like sliced tilapia i do know they really
like crab meat and squid as treats, but both of these can really dirty your water,
with a pond of that size you can offer this guy a very good home, better then most.
i would start with only hand feeding and get it used to people at an early stage, spooking one at a very large size can be devastating, I have noticed with mine
when i do turn on the lights he goes ape-**** and smashed around all over the place,
they do spook easily

i keep mine with a tiger shovelnose in a 150, currently the water isnt heated

Sorry if it pisses you off when your told not keeping your fish properly but don't shoot the messenger as keeping a TSN and a RTC below 25c isn't keeping them properly. They are tropical fish they need heated water ...bass or no bass....
