i just got it a few hrs ago and it isn't eating like other RTC owners i know. is it just adjusting to it's new home?

seriously though.
my 12'' eats more than i do. LOL

pellets. Most people are strongly against feeders esp. goldfish. Feeders often carry disease due to the conditions they are bred, shipped, and kept in. Moreover, although they are high in protein and will promote quick growth, they are FAR from a complete diet.

Stick with pellets and frozen foods. As it grows you'll have get creative (start buying fish food from the grocery store...not the pet store!)

i see. i tried feeding it bloodworms this morning but it didn't eat it. it's frozen bloodworms

Cut up fish and prawns/smelt etc should entice him to eat.

I would never buy from grocery stores for fish food because they only sizes they stock would last the RTC probably 2 meals.
Also, good quality stuff at the LFS is double the price but I'd feel safer using the food I trust.

It will eat when it feels comfortable. Get some hiding spots for your little guy. Hanging in the corners isnt gonna do it. He will eat bloodworms when ready, I havent seen one yet that wouldnt. Unless your tank is new and not cycled yet, then he will be stressed from the polluted water not eat and die a horrible death. It isnt a newly set up tank is it ??????

Good luck.......
