rtcxtsn vs channel cat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you read the stickies you would know that that size difference is a no-go for any predatory fish and if you had any fish keeping experience you would know that newly introduced fish give off stress chemicals and are most likely to be targeted for predation or bullying.

i am as bad as that group. you fail to see that i have many years of fish keeping and this was a need to condense out a tank move and since there is more to consider then the common "most of them are this way". i was watching the fish for a few hours to see how they would act together. all mixes could work, but some don't. i know what i am doing and i knew that this was a risky move, but if you don't risk anything you will never gain anything. if it were to have worked it would have been an even more amazing tank then it already is. just a few more months for the cats to catch up to the others and they will be fine.

oh ya as for the stickies, i do some writing of them myself, just check the aro section. it was the idea for the "do you want to keep a rtc" sticky.

Wow, so many large fish in such a small tank...not cool man, you have like 2-3 arowanas, like 2 bichirs, 2-4 channel cats, a RTCxTSN hybrid, a gar, and who knows what else, all in a 120g ....wtf? :swear::shakehead

lol , who would of thought a larger cat would try and eat a smaller one. lol

I just purchased a RTCxTSN this lfs had it labled as a LIMA SN after i questioned what it was the employee swore it was a Lima sn they gave me 5 bucks off just to take it. what a deal, ya cant make this stuff up folks. if you keep this catfish it will continue to eat anything that will fit in its mouth so be prepared to loose fish if you want to keep it. i would suggest you keep it in its own tank by itself or it will eat its way through its tankmates..

Why do you not have any quarantine tanks or suitable tubs for such small fish ?? If you had had a huge tank burst and had to put some large fish together i could understand it but with the size of those channels you should have had equipment to house them.

you are wrong on multiple counts. first off it is a 180gal. second it is a growout for a pond.

hahaha. i do have other grow out tanks(witch they are in now, i just was hoping i didn't need them. i got the channels from a river then after qt in a tank and i got them on processed foods i decided it was time. yet at the same time i knew it was a risk so i was WATCHING them to see how it went. if i didn't know my stuff i would have just thrown them in the big tank first with out any parasite qt and called it good. they are properly housed and fed. i suppose you'd sh*t yourself if i told you i just added some convicts to this tank.:WHOA: they also were free and are meant as a breeding food source. i also catch small bullheads and sunfish as feeders for my big cats/preds. you go to the store and spend lots of money on food and i'll just use my saved money for more tanks/pond equipment.

you have an amazing set up, i love all the bichirs. the hybrid cat is gorgeous too

thank you.

oh ya, i also have a marble pim (archara cat) growing out in another tank for this tank. see i paid for that one so i will be sure it wont/can't be eaten. if it would have been a free fish it is at a size now that i may have tried it.
