I cant say that your view of a fishes value being dependant on its monetery cost is winning me over, and i still maintain it was dumb to put fish that small in with a predator so much larger.

i am not tring to win you over, i am saying that some fish i will buy cause i can't get them here as wild. all wild fish i get are for the most part taken as a food sorce, be it for the fish or myself. i am also tring to tell you i knew what the risk was and even though i could have put another tank in operation i opted to try the risk. i was just telling you that i got them for free and that if they were eatten i wasn't worried cause i get feeder bullheads and others for my fish anyway. the cats just have not had bullheads yet. i have different views on feeders from most on this site. everyone seems think to think that feeder fish are a waste of time and energy since they are usless to a predator fish anyway. then i have to bring up the simple fact that fish in the wild eat 'feeder fish' all the time and most preds have to be starved to ween them on to the 'better' diet. now my goal as a keeper is to present a fish with a varioty to eat and to make as close to natual conditions as i can. granted i have them with fish they don't see in the wild, but thats only cause they are in a grow out. my big cat pond is going to be a south american pond. i will have other pond/tanks for each bio-type.

Are you planning an indoor pond or an outdoor pond? How big and how do you plan to heat it?

indoor ponds for some of the tropical fish and outdoor ponds for the native fish i have. i live in a cold state so i have to do both. my outdoor will not be heated and it will be something to the size of 20'x10'x6'. my indoor pond will be 12'x10'x3' i may go larger on the depth and length, it depends on if i get some arapimas or not. the indoor will be heated by ambiant house temp of 72f. those are the main ponds. i will have a mix of smaller pond with cichlids and things aswell.

Ok, all cleaned up! To everyone writing in this thread, sorry I was slacking as a mod and didn't catch it sooner. This time I will not hand out infractions, but if you cannot keep this thread on track and be more supportive of each other and stop using foul language I will have to close this thread and issue user infractions. Back on track good luck to the op and everyone please try to remember we are all here learning from each other's experiences so that we can all be better fish keepers!
