Oh so the arowana expert with the 150 gallon tank is giving the advice now?

also sorry for assuming youre a girl, but with a girl as your avatar you kind of invite that assumption

So lay off of smarsh's tank size when you yourself couldn't house the fish. infact the fish would be healthier in smarsh's minimum specs than in one of those tiny cramped LFS tanks.

I see 1000 dollar arro's in stores here and nobody buys them so they end up stunting and looking all dwarfed.

This guy. What are you talking about not being able to house my aro? Can you not read? It's in a 150 grow out, going to a pond right after. This may sound condescending, cause it is. It doesn't take a genius to know what should be ideal for an Aro. I thought this thread ended peacefully, but you're trying to instigate something. I never said a 6x2.5x2 was inadequate for an Aro. I just think an 8x3x3 should be the min. If the Aro's end up being stunted and stuff from not being bought from the LFS, tough. It's a fact of life. Not every animal/human gets to live in a nice home.

Good day. This is my last post for this thread.

What do you think about putting a a 5-6" rtg in a 8x3x3 tank for life or would you recommend to put it in a grow out tank first?

wow you got some problems if you can't remmber/read your older posts. you did say that his tank wasn't large enough. you argued at him for several pages that he can't keep one in his tank. so don't try and act all high and mighty like you haven't said anything wrong. Also you didn't say anything about moving your aro into a pond, you only said that your uncle HAD a pond. My uncle has a tank too, doesn't mean If I bring it up that I'm obviously moving my fish to him.

jesus some people are just retards I swear. They act like complete dicks to everyone and then they try and justify and argue their way out of it.

Post #32. Please learn how to read before you call someone a retard. I also mentioned he can keep his aro in w/e tank he wants. Again, learn how to read. If you feel the need to say something, PM me. I've cluttered this thread quite enough. And all you guys getting cheap entertainment out of this, screw you guys lol.

A smaller grow out would be better, just to make it easier for your Aro to find food. Sorry for all the unnecessary posts.

Poor arofriendly has to deal with all of this on his thread.....

I will admit though that the trying to argue just to argue attitude is quite entertaining :)

Maybe PM is the best way to solve heated debates, and leave the forum to address the specifics of the OP? I hope I didnt just make myself a target :uhoh:

Dear all Mfkers I would appreciate all the info/ideas I can get from everyone that is willing !!!
In the future im looking to possibly moving out of the country haven't decited yet and had a few questions.
I would love to get a Red tail gold arowana and wondering what is the best size tank and best filtration setup and tank mates if possible,I do plan on starting all fish small to grow together.
Again I would appreciate all info and advice and would love to see pics of your setup if possible:)

Start with an RTG as I have been told they are less susceptible to drop eye, gill curl and other diseases then their fancier counter parts and are a good starter arowana. I have a 8" one and it is growing out in a 230 gallon with red neck severums, bbsd's,flagtails, armatus, vittatus. Once it's big enough I will be putting it into either my 450 gallon or 520 gallon. If I were you I would start with a big tank as it easier to keep the water quality in check. They like current and my 230 gallon has a fx5 and 2 aquaclear 110's for filtration and a couple powerheads for circulation. It's best to grow up their tank mates with them as they can be mean as they get bigger and might not take kindly to newly acquired tank mates.

How long would it take to out grow a 125 gal grow out tank before needing to move it to a bigger tank?
What would you recommend as tank mates for a rtg for life im def planing on getting a bigger tank just havent decited on what size?
