Russian Tortoise Light.

Just making sure, how long do you guys have light on. (both heat lamp and uvb) A day?
What temperature? Right now my tortoise basking spot is around 40 degrees.
How far above the tortoise do you guys hang your uvb light to avoid eye damage. I posted about this before, and was told 25cm, and have been doing that. Thinking about hanging it a little further up.
Just wanna confirm some stuff.

I don't have a Russian but I keep my Sulcata's UVB light about 16" from the bottom of the tortoise table.

16 inches, im using bulbs, im assuming your using light rods?

I'd say about 10-12 inches from the top of the tortoise's shell is a good distance.

Thanks dude! And dnt take this the wrong way, but is this something your sure of or just something your guessing or assuming.
I dont wanna take any chances with my turtles eyes haha, so just wanna make sure.

I have a Herman's and keep his light about a foot above the tortoise. I run mine in a timer and give him 8 hours of light a day.

Just stay away from the high wattage UVB coil bulbs and you should be fine.
