RUSTY TAP WATER PROBLEM MID WATER CHANGE

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well they should be getting plenty oxygen. Lol Sorry that you are having to go through all of this. I just wonder if the water falling that far into the tank will stress them with the splash and currents it will produce.

They should be alright for a day. Maybe stressed a bit should be all good.

Your right, so after reading that, I rigged this up now, my homade water slide, no more noise, no more water crashing down, currents all that, maybe some stress from the cramped conditions but nothing major, looks like crap but it works. I took a old fish bag, cut a hole in the corner clamped it under and around my HOB filter and the water runs down the inside of the back and out the hole submurged in the tank. hey it works. lol

Good job! I would never have thought of doing that. Lol It should help keep the stress down. As long as you still have enough water movement to keep the tank oxygenated you will be fine.

Just buy an inline water filter that screws onto a garden hose. Then use a garden hose to fill up a lined trash can while you bring the temp of it up. They have inline filters in the camping/R.V. section at Walmart. It's basically a carbon filter with very small pores. They're relatively cheap and it will filter out any sediment, rust particles, and the like. Then deduct the price of the filter off of your next water bill! Piece of cake!

Thanks fellaz , much appreciated, yea the bag should help with the stress and let me be able to get some sleep, since the tank insnt that far from my bed.lol

What type heater do you have? Is it a preset temp on it or do you adjust the temp? I'm asking because you will need to reduce the temp on it because you are heating less water now.

TRRUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEE , wow see now i wouldnt have thought of that, yea i just set it lower, I definitely would have cooked them because my heater is to small for my tank so I have it set on like 92 just to get the water to 80. nice catch on that one.
