RUSTY TAP WATER PROBLEM MID WATER CHANGE

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How are your fish doing? Iron is a heavy metal that you do not want your fish near. I would by 5 gallon bottles of spring water and use some additive to help get rid of the heavy metals. I would change the water that left over 50% water in the tank before filling it.

I moved some tropicals to my GFs house just down the road from me, both of us have wells, her water has a lot of iron we found out which killed all but a couple fish.

Damn a nice catch indeed..... He saved your fish :nilly:

The fish are doing great, water temp is perfect, no stress signs, there all out n about like normal looking healthy. yea she def, did I would have cooked them for sure. and I dont have any wells out here just good ol' dirty NY tap water. what kind of additives do they have to take iron out? I dont even see how that would be possible without using some sort of filter.

yeaaaa I dont think i want to chance it im probably going to just wait it out since I got the tank stable for the moment. if not I get clean water from a friends house a few miles away, but I just know, with my luck, the buckets will dump out in my truck on a turn or something. so I might just keep an eye on them and wait for clean water again.

You could rig up a wholehouse filter to your tanks filter system and use a filter cartridge that will remove the heavy metals.
